Prescription Wrinkle Creams - Renova and Avage
If you've given up on over-the-counter wrinkle creams and other wrinkle products but don't want to have a face lift or other plastic surgery, then another alternative is to visit your doctor and get a prescription for one of the retinoids, Renova or Avage. Caveat: Don't expect any miracles for any wrinkle cream, or product. if a wrinkle cream product was a miracle we would be hearing about it from many people. Of course this can always happen as time goes by.
The retinoids, or vitamin A derivatives are the only topical prescription remedies for wrinkles.
How Prescription Wrinkle Creams - Renova and Avage - Work
They're not sure but doctors think they work by stimulating the growth of more collagen or new skin cells.
In clinical studies it's shown that the retinoids smooth out a few of the fine lines and wrinkles but don't get rid of them completely. They also don't affect frown lines or deep furrows. Wrinkle creams are also supposed to help fade age spots and any blotchy pigmentation.
One drawback is that both Renova and Avage can be irritating to the skin. The skin will be red, itchy and peeling for several weeks following the initial use. The irritation may clear up eventually but one can have a persistent dry skin problem as long as they are using the products and worsen as time goes by. The skin will get even redder when exposed to sunlight. I'd try applying virgin coconut oil at night to heal the dry skin problem.
So be careful before you start using any prescription cream. Do your research. Compare with others. Read ratings, reviews and comparisons for all the prescription wrinkle creams and products available before you take the plunge.
