When you want to get rid of wrinkles your first thought may be to use a wrinkle cream.  But if so, which one should you choose? Should you choose an over-the-counter wrinkle cream or prescription wrinkle cream?

When comparing night and day wrinkle creams  or anything else for that matter, it's a good idea to check the reviews, ratings and comparisons in Consumer Reports.  You may have to go to the annual buying guide index to find what you need.  They rated over-the-counter wrinkle creams in the January 2007 issue. The prescription wrinkle creams like the retinoids, Renova and Avage which are vitamin A derivatives and are topical prescription remedies for wrinkles, were not rated or reviewed or compared in these tests.

They test for the anti-wrinkle factor, which is how effective the product was against fine lines and wrinkles, moisturizing which is how well the product helped skin retain moisture, for tolerance, which is based on the number of test subjects who had to drop out because of skin irritation or other side effects,  They tested for day-cream SPF which is the sun-protection factor, if any, of any wrinkle cream designated for daytime use and the approximate retail price of the wrinkle cream. They basically said that all the creams worked better for some women than for others, but none came even close to completely eliminating fine lines and wrinkles.  They suggest you try more than one to find what works best for you.
